if that is your wish..

i've just seen the warcraft dota forum, and wow, well u know wat? dota heroes' names doesn't come from nowhere.. they've got their origin.. here's wat i found.. check it out..

Luna Moonfang-- Moon Rider: Luna is latin for moon, and Luna is also a roman goddess. Moonfang is moon, obviously, and fang, perhaps because she rides a tiger (which... has fangs.)

Rhasta-- Shadow Shaman: Rhasta is a word for the Jamaican lifestyle. As he has a jamaican accent, it fits. For some reason, all trolls do...

Bradwarden-- Centaur Warchief: This is a bit funny, because a Brad is a kind of tack, a rounded nail with a big spike on top. A warden is a keeper, or guardian of sorts. And Bradwarden's helmet is indeed a Brad. Keeper of the spiked helmet? Weird.

Gondar-- Bounty Hunter: Gondar is a city in Ethiopia, although I have absolutely no idea what that has to do with bounty hunting.

Magina-- Anti Mage: Magina is a derivative of the word magic, or perhaps magi.

Traxex-- Drow Ranger: Traxex is a derivative of the word track, to follow, at least I think. Drow is a race in dungeons and dragons, also called dark elves.

Huskar-- Sacred Warrior: Huskar is probably a Scandinavian word, and husk means "remember." Huskar may have been a god of war or celebrated war hero to one of the ancient norse tribes of far northern europe and siberia.

Medusa-- Gorgon: Obviously, Medusa was a monster of ancient greece, with the power to turn anything she looks at into stone. Perseus, the Greek hero, used a Mirror Shield (I bet he played Zelda) to make medusa petrify herself. Medusa, in the older versions of dota, had a move that slowed enemies little by little until they were 100% incapable of moving, having turned to stone. This move was replaced by purge, because it took about 25 seconds to fully stop an enemy, and was pretty much useless because it was channeling. Think a single target version of Warlock's AOE slow move, upheaval.

King Leoric-- Skeleton King: In the blizzard game Diablo II, King Leoric's arm was a bone wand that gave some pretty good effects. In dota he's the entire skeleton though, not just the arm... and for some reason he's worse. He was also a powerful skeleton warrior extra strong creep.

Lucifer-- Doom Bringer: Lucifer is the name Satan went under before he went against God. Lucifer was cast down from heaven and his archangelic status, etc. etc. Now we wonder why lucy in dota isn't that good. Shouldn't he be able to kill people in one hit and stuff?

Anub'Arak-- Nerubian Assassin: In the Frozen Throne Undead Campaign, Anub'Arak, the king of spiders, was killed in a battle over the spider city of somethingsomething Nerub. He was then raised from the dead by the Lich King to serve as Arthas' personal bodyguard and advisor through the tunnels of what was his empire.

Akasha-- Queen of Pain: Akasha is a sanskrit word, meaning "sky." She is the essence of the aether, one of the 5 great elements from Hinduism.
However, Akasha can also be a counterpart to the demoness leader of the holy city, who exiled the first Imam of Mohammed and was destroyed by the Archangel Gabriel. Her physical description is identical to that of the dota hero.

Viper-- Netherdrake: A viper is a deadly snake, similar to adders and asps. Viper is also a supervillain in the marvel universe, who uses poison to slow the reflexes and speed of opponents.

Leshrac the Malicious-- Tormented Soul: A card from Magic: The Gathering. Leshrac is a planeswalker, who is given power in the form of a demonic mask, which tortures him but gives him limitless power. That is presumably why the icon for diabolic edict is a satanic looking mask.

Kel'Thuzad-- Lich: the Lich Kel'Thuzad is a necromancer, slain by Arthas and revived by the Lich King. He is from then on Arthas' closest friend and advisor, and is extremely intelligent, though Arthas rarely listens to his advice. Judging by the fact that the lich king is who the scourge fight for, it fits the story quite well. Lich is derived from lic, an old version of the word "corpse."

Krobelus-- Death Prophet: Krobelus is a major playable character in the game Summoner 2. She is a powerful sorceress.

Magnus-- Magnataur: Magnus is the name of many, many kings of saxony, france, and norway. Also a derivative of the word Magnataur, which is a mythical beast-- half man, half bull. Magnus is also a reference to German physicist Heinrich Magnus who described a physical phenomenon called the Magnus effect, that is apt because of Magnus' (the Magnataur's) ultimate Reverse Polarity acting like the Magnus effect.

Barathrum, the Spiritbreaker - The name Barathrum is the word for "underworld" in Latin.
More in depth: meaning 'an insatiable person' or 'an Abyss'. More recently associated with a Finnish black metal band. They were one of the first Finnish black metal bands together with bands such as Archgoat, Beherit and Impaled Nazarene. They originate from Kuopio but have since re-located to Helsinki. The first letters of their full-length albums spell "HEIL SOVA" (referring to the band's mainman, Demonos Sova), which completes their original eight-album plan and they are only touring now. Stylistically, the music of Barathrum features mid-tempo songs with distinct influences from the earliest black metal acts, such as Venom and Celtic Frost. The lyrics deal with occult and religious themes, often glorifying the Antichrist, often quite humorously. Grammatically, Demonos Sova's lyrics are twisted, clearly showing that English is not his first language. In fact, albums feature names in Finnish, with words such as Perkele and Saatana (Satan).

Butcher - Named after The Butcher in the game Diablo. When he uses his ultimate spell, he uses a phrase from The Butcher as well.

Mogul Kahn - The name Mogul refers to a dynasty of Farsi-Mongolians that once controlled the area that is now Afghanistan, Balochistan, and the Indian subcontinent (e.g. Babur, Akbar), while Kahn is a misspelling of "Khan", which means commander, leader or ruler in Persian.

Black Arachnia, the Broodmother - The name, "Black Arachnia" is a character in the TV series Beast Wars. In the show, Black Arachnia is a female spider/robot for the Predacons faction.

Leviathan - Strength hero that looks like a sea giant. His name comes from a Biblical sea creature. His name can also be from a unique armor in Diablo II, "The Leviathan" Kraken Shell. One of his skills is called Kraken Shell.

Mortred - Her name possibly derives from the name Mordred. In the legend of King Arthur, Mordred is a traitor that severely wounds King Arthur. This has a hint of similarity to Mortred's story text in the DotA game, which appears as a tooltip during hero selection. Name could also allude to the word mortify, meaning to destroy the strength, vitality, or functioning of. Mortred also helped to test the map when Euls still made it.

Ulfsaar - A Furbolg warrior whose name may spring from the Norse Ulfsark, a warrior in times of need (alluding to his character description) that wore animal skins as a tactic to scare enemies; and similar to Ulfsarks were Berserkers, meaning "Bear strength". Berserk is alluded to Ulfsaar's abilty to Overpower foes.

Atropos - He gets his name from a game called "Ogre Tactics" or " Tactics Ogre" his name is one of the skills there, in fact all of his skills are the name of the spells used in the game.

(Provided by Vegeta87)In Greek mythology, Atropos was one of the three Moerae, Goddesses of fate and destiny. She was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as the "inflexible" or "inevitable." It was Atropos who chose the mechanism of death and ended the life of each mortal by cutting their thread with her "abhorred shears." She worked along with Clotho, who spun the thread, and Lachesis, who measured the length. Her origin, along with the other two fates, is uncertain, although some called them the daughters of the night. It is clear, however, that at a certain period they ceased to be concerned with death and became instead those powers which decided what must happen to individuals. Although Zeus was the chief Greek god and their father, he was still subject to the decisions of the Fates, and thus the executor of destiny rather than its source.

Purist Thunderwrath: A paladin name from ladder.

Terrorblade: A demon Hunter name from ladder.

Lanaya--Templar Assassin: The name Lanaya came from "The Last Book in the Universe". Templar came from Starcraft, which is kinda space like. Which kinda why the reason why Lanaya is called Templar Assassin.

Vol'Jin - The Witch Doctor
the apprentice and son of the Troll witchdoctor Sen'jin, while the exiled Darkspear Tribe lived on the Broken Isles. During this time period, the Darkspear Trolls were nearly wiped out by a group of ferocious murlocs. Only through the intervention of Thrall and the Horde were the trolls able to survive.

Mercurial - The Spectre
Mercurial = Having characteristics of the Roman god Mercury, such as speed.
pectre is a (usually terrifying) phantom, apparition, or ghost, or an unreal appearance. It is common in some types of folklore and mythology.
therfore possibly mean Speed specture / fast specture taking into concideration her lvl 6

Harbinger - The Obsidian Destroyer
A harbinger is a sign of things to come. Throughout history and literature, harbingers and omens figure prominently, and are responsible for major decisions which have altered the course of both.
sort of symbolic image which embodies the course of events their subconscious is trying to make them anticipate
Obsidian - Obsidian is a type of naturally-occurring glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. It is produced when felsic lava erupted from a volcano cools rapidly through the glass transition composition is very similar to that of granite and rhyolite

Rooftrellen - Treant
Treants are sentient trees with human characteristics. They are typically portrayed as protectors of the forests and antagonists to industrialization and despoiling of nature. They are typically allies of druids and fey, opposing malicious races such as orcs.
The name "treant" comes from combining "tree" and "giant," and is usually pronounced /|tree-ant/.

Pugna, the Oblivion:
Pugna is an italian verb, meaning to punch or blow.

Banehallow, the Lycanthrope:
This is an interesting name because it's two words combined into one: Bane means opposite, or enemy, like bleach is the bane of stains. Hallow is a verb meaning to make holy, so Banehallow is possibly the bane of holiness.

cute huh? and now i remember, i've seen butcher before, in diablo.. he uses the phrase "aargh, fresh meat" too in diablo.. no wonder the phrase seems so familiar.. haha..
